WCRA joins Open Spaces Society

You must admit, the weekend was glorious and in keeping with many (whom I met along the way), it was an opportunity to enjoy the open spaces around Westfield Common. Flytipping / Anti-social Behavior

Fly Tipping in the pond

I am hearing reports of increased anti-social behavior and fly tipping in Westfield Common including fires being started in the woods, drinking / smoking dens proliferating and fly tipping. Indeed today I witnessed the sad scene of a bed dumped into Moor Lane Pond (see picture below) which has been reported to WBC. One of our members has spoken to Katie Dunk as to when the committee might be meeting, re: the Access Application. Katie said that it will not be decided officially until 5 days before,but “unofficially” it’s likely to be 07th July. Water Drilling – Housing Site

Did you know that in April / May a survey team were drilling on site, for water, with instructions to go 20 or 25mtrs deep.  The drilling was carried out by a company called “SI Drilling” (www.sidrilling.co.uk) At the east end of the site they hit water at 4 mtrs and in the west end (at best) they hit water at 7 mtrs down.  At no point did they drill through the water to dry land.   On this  [ Read More ]
