Great Crested Newt Ponds – Site visit
On Thursday 31 August 2017, representatives of WCRA, Woking Borough Council and ADAS (Environmental Consultancy) visited Westfield Common to look and the proposed sites for works to introduce improved pond habitats for Great Crested Newts.
The purpose of the site visit was to capture input, concerns and local knowledge from WCRA. This resulted in identification of:
- A pre-existing pond site located on the common / ditch boundary of Moor Lane (opposite the entrance of Bonners Close) which will be adopted rather than building a new pond.
- The need to tackle fly tipping before installing a pond between Balfour Avenue and Westfield Way.
- Suggestions for improvements at Moor Lane pond.
Details will be published once WBC / ADAS update their proposals.
